Maryellen Meredith Crockett debuts her first CD....
"Goin' On"
ABOUT THE CD
In
spite of her meek and humble spirit, the one word that best describes
Maryellen Meredith Crockett is "powerful." Maryellen seeks to extend a
"simple" note of healing and deliverance through her message in song.
The deeper she presses into her heart, the higher she climbs.
Goin' On is
comprised primarily of flavored arrangements of familiar hymns and
praise songs; however the title cut deviates slightly from the pattern
to present a colorful Caribbean groove. Instrumentation is kept "simple"
to highlight Maryellen's wide vocal range, her adlib ability and her
powerful, vibrant tones. The title cut, "Goin' On" was penned by
Meredith Crockett herself and the album produced by the Just Anointed
Music Company.
ABOUT MARY ELLEN
Maryellen is a native of
Columbus, Ohio. On January 12, 1972, she accepted Christ as her personal
savior during a revival being held at Meredith Temple COGIC -- the
church founded by her grandfather, Elder Douglas Meredith. Even though
"Goin' On" is her debut album, she says,
"My
singing debut occurred on February 17, 1976 while I sat at the
bedside of my ill grandfather, Elder Douglas Meredith. He started
singing the old hymn, 'I Need Thee.' His breathing became extremely
heavy so I asked him to stop and let me sing the song for him. He
stopped singing, and I started. Little did I know that this would be
the last time on earth that 'Pa' would hear me sing. He passed away
a few minutes later. The last name he called on was, 'Jesus.' I have
always felt that the Lord left me here to continue singing where
'Pa' left off."
Since that
time, Maryellen has sang with her home church choir, with the Columbus
COGIC District #1 Choir , the Central Jurisdiction of Ohio Choir, at
weddings, funerals and various churches. She served as director of the
Meredith Temple Youth Choir for 10 years. In 1997, Maryellen was asked
to sing at the IAPES National Conference! This opened the door for other
opportunities such as: Ohio Kaleidoscope Conference for Women (1998),
Ohio Women's Hall of Fame Induction, Inagural Ceremony for the first
female governor of Ohio (1999), Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, Ohio Habitat
for Humanities Ceremony (2001) and most recently at Packard Hall in
Warren, Ohio (2003).
Maryellen
was born to Joseph & Elsie Meredith and was the first niece and
grandchild of the Meredith family. She was raised by her aunt and name
sake Mother Mary Ellen Meredith - whom she says is an example for women
all over the world. "Little Mary" (as she is affectionately called) is a
graduate of the Ohio State University and was employed by the Ohio Jobs
and Family Services for 28.5 years before becoming the Executive
Assistant to the "best" mayor in the United States - Mayor Michael B.
Coleman. Her hobbies include traveling, reading and walking. Maryellen
currently resides in Europe with her husband, Eld. Howard A. Crockett.
Maryellen's
trademarks include wearing pearls with all outfits and offering words of
encouragement to others. In regard to her debut album, Maryellen says,
"God has
birthed this CD for his glory. He wants America and
individuals to be healed, delivered and set free."
